Ralph R. (Rick) Huff was born in Boca Raton, Florida on October 17, 1944. Rick attended Plymouth High School and graduated in 1962. He graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1966. After graduating from Indiana University Rick joined the U.S. Army, and served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was honorably discharged in 1969, with the rank of captain.
Rick continued to work as a pilot for several years before attending Valparaiso University School of Law where he graduated with a juris doctorate degree in 1978. While in law school, Rick was an Associate Editor of the Valparaiso University Law Review. Rick was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1978. He began his legal career in Plymouth, Indiana with what was then Goodrich & Jones, the firm that is now Jones Huff Jones & Richeson, LLP. He also served as chief deputy prosecutor for Marshall County, leaving the prosecutor’s office in 1994.
